BLACK DYKE BAND, ENGLAND, EUROPEAN CHAMPION 2012

Black Dyke Band from England, conducted by Dr. Nicholas J. Childs, was the winner of European Brass Band Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, this weekend. The event took place in the famous De Doelen concert hall.

Noord-Limburgse Brass Band came second. Brass Band Schoonhoven took the third prize.

The B-section winner was Austrian Brass Band of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, conducted by prof. Uwe Koeller.

COMPOSER WINNERS

Paul McGhee, England, was the winner of the 5th European Composers Competition with his work "Lullaby".

2. prize: Joel Engström, Sweden ("Impact").

3. prize: Tom Davoren, Wales ("Looking In").

4. prize: Marc Jeanbourquin, Switzerland ("Red Mountain").

Audience prize: Marc Jeanbourquin, Switzerland ("Red Mountain").

EVENT SUCCESS

The successfully sold out events were organized by Wolter Lommerde and this team. EBBA would like to express our thanks to the organizers on behalf of the European brass band movement.

ELECTIONS

At the annual general meeting Sunday morning, 6. May, EBBA delegates elected the following persons: Carsten Hering Nielsen, Denmark, executive committee member. Joe Cassels, Northern Ireland, president of Music Commission. Frode Rydland, Norway, music commission member.

The next European Brass Band Championships will take place in Oslo, Norway, 2013, and Perth, Scotland, 2014.
