The European Brass Band Association has announced a change of General Secretary.

Carsten Hering Nielsen who has been General Secretary for the last two years has informed EBBA that he will step down from the post. The new General Secretary will be Kor Niehof, Netherlands.

EBBA President Ulf Rosenberg says: "We thank Carsten for all his hard work in the busy post and he has made a significant contribution to EBBA and the entire European brass band movement. We wish him all the best for the future."
Carsten Hering comments his departure: "I am very sorry to be leaving the EBBA Executive Committee, but my health situation since the EBBC in Oslo has made it impossible for me to carry out the huge amount of work required of the General Secretary to a satisfactory level while carrying the burden of responsibility that this important position demands."

Ulf Rosenberg says: "The EBBA Executive Committee and country delegates have accepted the proposal that Kor Niehof from the Netherlands will take over as General Secretary as per 1st of July 2014. He has been Assistant Contest Controller at the European Championships for the last few years and we have been impressed by his professionalism and organisational abilities, and we are sure that he will be a great addition to the EBBA team."
Kor has been chairman of the Provinciale Brass Band Groningen for 15 years till January 2013 and is currently playing B-flat tuba at Brass Band de Wâldsang. His profession is Project Engineer at Shell.
Kor Niehof says: "I am very excited to become EBBA General Secretary. I know there is always a lot of work to do behind the scenes but I am ready for the challenge, especially as we continue our planning for the EBBC in Freiburg in 2015".
