British Bandsman is to present live Internet coverage of this year's European Brass Band Championships from Perth Concert Hall in an initiative that will give BB readers and viewers worldwide a chance to witness what has become the most competitive of all band contests in recent years.

In repeating the experience of the 2010 event in Linz, Austria, BB will again work in collaboration with Yamaha Music Europe GmbH (UK) to transmit the European Championships via the BB website, presented by international percussion star Simone Rebello. The event, which will be held on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 May is already sold out for the Saturday afternoon session, so potential visitors to Perth will be able to avoid any disappointment of missing one of the highlights of the contesting calendar by signing up for BB's live coverage at www.britishbandsman.com

Announcing news of this exciting project, BB Editor Kenneth Crookston commented: "The experience of bringing the 2010 event in Linz to our readers across the world was an unforgettable one, and we were delighted with the critical response that we received from those who watched the programme over that remarkable weekend. Having been given the opportunity to do it all again from Perth in May, we are very excited at the prospect of working with Yamaha and World of Brass, the latter of which will provide the high-quality pictures and sound for the transmission. We are also grateful to the European Brass Band Association and the Scottish Brass Band Association for their assistance with the project."

Ian Frankland, Marketing and Promotions Manager - Band and Orchestral Division - of Yamaha Music Europe (UK) added: "We are delighted to be working again with British Bandsman on the European Championships livestreaming project. Being part of bringing Perth to the world via the BB website promises to be too good an opportunity to miss and I know that Simone Rebello is looking forward immensely to repeating her marathon performance in 2010, when she held viewers' attention for over 12 hours throughout the packed weekend with her insightful and stimulating discussions with some of the many stars of the show."

EBBA President Ulf Rosenberg commented: "I am delighted that British Bandsman and Yamaha are to collaborate on the livestreaming of this year's European Championships from Perth. The event promises to be one of the best we'll have seen in the 37-year history of the European Championships, with great bands performing fine music in a very good concert hall in Perth. This project will present a great opportunity for brass band enthusiasts all over the world to see and hear the very pinnacle of brass band competition and we look forward to ‘welcoming' them to Perth, even if they can't be there in person!"

Kenneth Crookston concluded: "With the chance to see live action of international banding's most important event, which this year will feature Cory, Black Dyke, Eikanger-Bjørsvik and eight other champion bands from around the Continent, we hope that lovers of brass band music the world over will join us from Perth for what promises to be one of the most exciting brass band events in many years."

Viewers can sign up to watch the 2014 European Brass Band Championships at www.britishbandsman.com; only £7.95 for the entire weekend's Championship Section competition and the Gala Concert and Results Ceremony.
