MANGER MUSIKKLAG, NORWAY, EUROPEAN CHAMPION

Manger Musikklag from Norway, conducted by Peter Szilway, was the winner of European Brass Band Championships in Montreux, Switzerland, this weekend. The event took place in the famous Strawinski Auditorium, next to the banks of Lake Geneva.

Cory Band, Wales, winner of the European Brass Band Championships in 2008-2009-2010, conducted by Dr. Robert Childs, came second.

Tredegar Town Band, Wales, conducted by Ian Porthouse, took the third prize.

CONDUCTOR WINNERS

Erik Van der Kolk, Netherlands, was the winner of the 5th European Conductors Competition.

2. prize: Tristan Uth, Germany.

3. prize: Nick Ost, Belgium.

EVENT SUCCESS

ELECTIONS

At the annual general meeting Sunday morning, 1. May, EBBA delegates re-elected the following persons:

Ulf Rosenberg, Norway, president

Kurt W. Bohlhalter, Switzerland, vice-president

Berit Handegard, Norway, general secretary

Raf Anseeuw, Belgium, treasurer

Nigel Morgan, England, auditor

As new member of the EBBA Music Commission the general meeting elected Maurice Hamers, Netherlands.

The next European Brass Band Championships will take place in Rotterdam 2012.
