Players from all member countries

All the delegates, from the 15 countries represented in EBBA, are in these days nominating the players to be part of the EYBB 2024. By 1 December all delegates are requested to select three of their most talented young brass players to participate in the EYBB 2024.

After 1 December, EBBAs music commission will go through the nomination list and listen to the audition videos and create the European Youth Brass Band for 2024.

The EYBB is a great opportunity for talented young brass players to play and develop together at a European level for one week and perform as a full brass band on various occasions during the European Brass Band Championships 2024 – including the European Composer Competition concert, Opening Ceremony and the Grand Gala Concert.

The Musical Director

It is a pleasure to introduce Philip Harper as  EYBB’s musical director. Philip Harper became Musical Director of the Cory Band in 2012. Since then he has won all the major trophies many times, including an unprecedented Grand Slam of major titles in 2016, repeated in 2019: the European, the British Open, the Nationals and Brass in Concert, all won in a single calendar year.

Philip won the coveted 4barsrest.com Conductor of the Year Award in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020. In recent years he was a guest conductor of the Manger Musikklag Band in Norway, the National Youth Brass Bands of Great Britain, Switzerland and Wales and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Symphonic Brass, amongst many others. In 2021 he was awarded the Iles Medal by the Worshipful Company of Musicians for his services to brass bands, and in 2023 was appointed an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

A resident of Gloucester, Philip was the Editor of Brass Band World magazine between 2009 and 2015 and, since 2005 has been the Music Editor of the historic Wright and Round publishing company.

Philip is a prolific composer and his original works and arrangements are played all over the world. In 2016 he composed A Shakespearean Triptych for a 650-strong joint ensemble and choir conducting the first performance in a packed Royal Albert Hall at the Last Night of the Schools Prom.

Arts Education Center- home of the EYBB 2024

The new and modern Arts Education Center of the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Art was opened a year ago.
It’s a perfect place for creative, artistic, academic camps, educational and teacher training programs, non-formal education programs, master classes, seminars. The Arts Education Center is also adapted for disabled children, who are given the conditions to study and actively spend their free time, thus ensuring the availability of educational services.

After opening the glass wall, the 200-seat Concert Hall connects with the terrace and an amphitheater audience space is formed next to it. Three separate buildings are dedicated to the creative activities of the Three Muses – music, art and dance. Up to 100 students can eat at the same time in the canteen. Two residential buildings can accommodate 100 participants. The campsite is located in the natural environment of the area, the unique aura of which is created by the pine forest, dunes and the Baltic sea just a few meters away.

The aim of the Arts Education Center of the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of the Arts is to combine the formal and informal education of artistically gifted and talented children, to systematically educate them, to offer activities and spaces for deepening existing competences and acquiring new ones, and to ensure the continuity of the educational process during school holidays by including pedagogues, higher school teachers, scientists.
