Today, Saturday 23rd April, 36 young talented players arrived from all over Europe (and the UK) into Birmingham. Their based in Trefoil House, a Girlguiding UK venue, which is a pleasant ten-minute walk along the canal to Symphony Hall.

The EYBB 2022 will work hard the coming days to be ready for their performances the coming week:

  • Tuesday 26 April (19:30) in Birmingham Conservatoire together with the Birmingham Conservatoire Brass Band.
  • Wednesday 27 April (19:00) in Fallibroome Academy together with Foden’s.
  • Thursday 28 April (16:00) on the Outdoorstage at Symphony Hall.
  • Saturday 30 April (15:00) at the Concourse in Symphony Hall.
  • They also will play during the Opening Ceremony and perform ceremonial duties at the award ceremonies.

We are delighted that the Musical Director for the EYBB this year is Florent Didier, from France. Florent belongs to a new generation of musicians, open to diverse aesthetic and orchestral forms. A passionate and complete conductor, who collaborates with Symphony Orchestras, Choirs, Brass Bands and Wind Orchestras, and is adapt at all styles of music.

As well as outstanding musical leadership, the EYBB also needs excellent day-to-day management, and this year this has been delivered by Isabelle Vermeesch from Belgium, and Anne-Mette Hansen from Denmark, with additional help from Lars Husted and Chris King of EBBA.
